Position Summary

Acuren is seeking a Purchaser to support the regional operations team! The Purchaser is responsible for regional purchase orders according to regional requirements to support the business with the purchasing of supplies, and equipment.

 

Position Details:

  • Start Date: April 8, 2026
  • Monday-Friday, 8 hours a day
  • Overtime as required (up to 10 hours per week)
  • Applicants must be local to Edmonton, AB

Responsibilities

  • Core Daily Operations
    • Enter a high volume of requests per day (30-40 POs).
    • Request and create Purchase Orders (POs) based on submitted requests for both goods and services.
    • Assign appropriate General Ledger (GL) codes to all purchase orders to ensure accurate financial tracking.
    • Review, post, and distribute purchase orders to the appropriate internal personnel and external vendors in a timely manner.
    Quality Control & Problem Solving
    • Clarify any unclear information with the requester to ensure accuracy.
    • Resolve errors on purchase orders as required.
    • Monitor open purchase orders to ensure timely completion.
    Strategic Coordination & Value
    • Compare vendors to determine which offers the best value to the company based on specific requirements.
    • Coordinate between Accounts Payable and tool crib personnel to support purchasing and payment functions.
    Administration
    • Maintain electronic and paper filing systems.

Requirements

  • Qualifications & Requirements
    • Education: Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred; however, a combination of education and experience may be considered.
    • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
    • Technical Skills:
      • Experience working with purchase order systems.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
      • Advanced Excel skills are essential, including the ability to manage data, use formulas, and support reporting.
    • Core Competencies:
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities.
      • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
      • Strong judgment, decision-making, and critical independent thinking skills.
     
    Preferred Assets 
    • Relevant certifications or coursework toward procurement or supply chain management.
    • Accounts payable experience or knowledge.
