We’re looking for energetic Summer Students to join our team as Shop Assistants at our Langley and Richmond warehouses.

In this role, you’ll get hands-on experience helping in the shop and warehouse, assisting with fleet vehicle prep, maintaining equipment, and keeping daily operations running smoothly. This is a great opportunity to gain practical skills, work with a dynamic team, and be part of a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.

Position Details:

  • Locations: Richmond, BC & Langley, BC (2 positions available)

  • Start Date: Beginning of April

  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

  • Salary: Up to $20.00/hr, depending on experience and certifications

Responsibilities

Providing support to ensure the shop operates effectively and efficiently by:

  • Working closely with journeymen and management to meet completion schedules.
  • Operating equipment such as drills, grinders, cutting torches, and power hand tools.
  • Cleaning equipment and completing minor repairs as needed.
  • Ensuring equipment and tools are stored safely and securely.
  • Preparing and maintaining clean work surfaces for technical staff.

Preparing fleet vehicles and ensuring readiness for use by:

  • Conducting vehicle check-ins and check-outs.
  • Detailing vehicles inside and out.
  • Ensuring vehicle documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Picking up and delivering fleet vehicles as required.

Providing assistance with maintenance, general duties, and customer service to the warehouse and shop by:

  • Maintaining internal manual and electronic record keeping systems.
  • Operating the forklift or other equipment necessary to load, unload, transport and store goods.
  • Ensuring good housekeeping procedures are followed and maintained in the warehouse, shop, and yard areas.
  • Maintaining logs, journals and statistics on daily activities.
  • Ensuring the organization, storage, cleanliness and proper identification of inventory items in a timely manner.
  • Participating in the management of inventory.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the shop, warehouse, and technical staff.

Requirements

Education & Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Valid forklift certification is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or industrial environment is an asset.

Technical Knowledge & Safety Awareness:

  • Basic mechanics and minor equipment repair.

  • Safe operation of hand and power tools.

  • Workplace safety practices, including safe lifting and handling procedures.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment that includes heavy lifting up to 25kg
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints and adapt easily to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates their understanding of, and compliance with, responsibilities under the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations, and Acuren Safety and Quality Management Systems, policies and procedures.

Working Conditions

  • Warehouse/office environment with continuous physical effort, continuous mental effort, and frequent complex requests for assistance.
  • Operation of various machinery and equipment under safe workplace practices.

  • Exposure to varying noise levels, temperatures, and standard shop/warehouse hazards.

  • Physically demanding tasks including lifting, moving, and handling tools and equipment.
  • Travel may be required.
