Acuren is currently hiring an Accounts Payable Specialist who is dedicated, energetic, professional, and detail oriented to join our Team.  Reporting to the Accounts Payable Team Lead, this position based in our Sherwood Park office plays a vital role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions while supporting the overall financial operations of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and accurately process invoices, employee expense claims, and company credit card transactions in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies, errors, or instances of non-compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • Ensure accurate account allocation within the general ledger and sub-ledger for all processed transactions.

  • Communicate proactively with vendors and suppliers to resolve invoice issues, payment delays, or account discrepancies.

  • Collaborate with field offices and vendors to research outstanding issues and provide timely support and guidance.

  • Review vendor account statements regularly to ensure all invoices have been received and processed.

  • Complete new vendor setups, ensuring required documentation and approvals are in place.

  • Perform monthly reconciliation of multiple company credit card accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Prepare cheques on an ad hoc basis, ensuring proper authorization and documentation.

  • Execute month-end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and reporting, as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting and/or equivalent work experience in accounts payable position(s). 
  • 3+ years accounting and accounts payable experience. 
  • Proficiency in use of office suite required, and financial software preferred (Sage 500).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong MS-Excel skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive internal and external relationships. 
  • Sound working knowledge of the overall business of the company and the impact of the program specialty on supporting those business objectives.
  • Thorough understanding of collective agreement terms and conditions.
