Position Summary

Acuren is seeking a reliable and motivated Cathodic Protection Surveyor to join our Cathodic Protection division in Northern Alberta. In this entry-level role, you will work alongside professional surveyors to conduct field surveys in remote locations, operate specialized surveying equipment, and collect data on external corrosion affecting pipelines. This position offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the surveying industry while contributing to the success of critical infrastructure projects in challenging and rewarding environments.

 

Position Information

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Duration: 2–3 months (work expected to slow in late November or December)

  • Rotation: 17/4 rotation, including travel days (typically starting on a Tuesday)

  • Shift: Day shifts, 10–12 hours in length

  • Location: Projects in Northern Alberta (Fort McMurray, Conklin, Manning, Rainbow Lake, etc.)

  • Accommodations & LOA: Provided

Responsibilities

  • Assist surveyors with on-site data collection, measurements, and observations.

  • Set up and support the operation of survey equipment; clear survey areas to ensure safe work sites and perform site clean-up as required.

  • Transport and handle materials, tools, and equipment in accordance with direction from the site supervisor.

  • Perform specialized tasks as assigned, with on-the-job training provided as needed.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Adhere to all safety standards, procedures, and best practices to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (non-GDL) with clean driving record; remote location navigation experience, including Argo/ATV utilization, is a strong asset.

  • Previous experience in pipeline or survey fieldwork is not essential but considered an asset.

  • Must be physically fit and able to routinely work outdoors in remote locations, in various terrain (dense bush, uneven ground, steep hills) and weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow).

  • Comfortable working around wildlife, insects, and other environmental hazards.

  • Able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.

  • Strong work ethic, good communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety procedures and PPE requirements at all times.

  • Available to travel for multiple days to remote locations (>80% travel).
