Acuren is currently seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Cash Application Specialist to join our finance team. This position will be based in our Sherwood Park Office.  If you are seeking a dynamic environment with opportunities for individual growth and learning, this is for you.

Responsibilities

This role is responsible for accurately applying incoming payments to customer accounts, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring timely processing to maintain accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

 

  • Process and apply customer payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers, and credit card transactions) to appropriate accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Research and resolve unapplied or misapplied payments by collaborating with internal teams and customers.
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts and ensure all transactions are properly recorded in the system.
  • Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, including short payments, deductions, and chargebacks.
  • Maintain detailed records of cash application transactions and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
  • Communicate with customers, banks, and internal departments to clarify payment details when necessary.
  • Assist in month-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and reporting.
  • Support audit requests by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or a similar role.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or accounting
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve discrepancies with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and customers.
  • Ability to handle high volumes of transactions in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred but not required).
